Initially self-taught, Paul Downie toured European museums and speaking to harpsichord makers in 1983. Working from original designs, Downie makes the complete instrument using authentic tools, many of which are from the nineteenth and some from the eighteenth century. This spinet, with a range of four and a quarter octaves, is a smaller variety of harpsichord.
