    Waist garment (English)

  • Description

    Liku. Waist garment made from woven strips of vau (hibiscus fibres). The top of the waistband consists of a thick braid woven out in tali tolu, with bundles that extend down to form the remaining body of the liku. Dark purple/brown natural fibres decorate the upper area of the liku. There is a long braid, extending from the waistband. forming a tie at one end, woven out in tali tolu (3-ply). At the opposite end is a long unwoven tie.

    The wide loose strands of vau extend further to form the body of the liku. Golden brown in overall colour.
