    [brass] sovereign balance in wooden case; balance folds up when box lid is opened - balance hinge is secured to case hinge; balance has sliding cipher and fold-down coin cradle; case is made of dark wood, hinge lid, with push-button lock; paper instructions for the balance are glued to the interior of the case; partially torn; with maker's name: STEPHEN HOUGHTON & SON, / Makers, Ormskirk. / Successors to A. Wilkinson.
