human history
  • Other Name

    tulang singa (Malaysian)

  • Description

remains of an iron implement. "This metal tool is sometimes found in the Malay States...The Malay call it tulang singa which means the bone of the Lion. According to them the Lion is King of beasts and used to infest these jungles (Singapore means Lion town)...they claim that these act as a charm and that they protect the holder from attacks by any other animal.

when the Malay find one of these they get it forged into a knife and they consider this wards off danger from wild animals..." [note on ethno card by Leslie H. Morrison]
