human history
  • Description

Figurine - [Buddha] figure; worked in Nepal brass.

Figure sits in half lotus with right hand palm facing out and thumb and forefinger connecting, left hand palm up on knee. Base is made from the same brass, with an ornamental design around the sides. On the inside of the base is a collection of rolled up paper, potentially incense, which has been burnt in some places and blackened. A lot of incense residue was found inside the base, which is now kept in a bag with the object (not a part). The bottom of the base has a star design embossed into the metal.
