  • Description

    Tairiiri. Fan. Composite tairiiri with blade woven from kikau ou (coconut leaf), with apuraka (giant swamp taro) overlaid akamanea (decoration), kiriau (hibiscus fibre) akaververe (fringe), and rakau (wooden) mauranga (handle). The blade is in the shape of an inverted triangle. Woven commencement at centre base. Woven out in 2/2 twill from the centre to form lower and upper edges, and sides of blade.

    The top of the blade is decorated with strips of dyed-red apuraka and completed with dyed-red kiriau akaverevere across the top of the blade.
