  • Kupu whakaahua

    pot, ceramic. Shallow foot, sides curve outwards to a low belly, then slope slightly inwards towards an open top and plain rim. A cream-coloured slip coats the pot. Exterior glazed with brown lines. A set of 3 narrow brown bands runs around the top and bottom of the vessel, with a curvilinear "ladder" around the middle of the wall section. Baluchistan, western Pakistan, dating from before the Indus Valley civilisation circa 4th – 3rd millennia BCE.
