Cylinder gauge

human history
  • Description

    Cylinder gauge 000 to 34

rectangular steel guage with circular end. 37 punched holes, incised numbers on one side. Logo of "E" on back.

This gauge is for measuring the diameter of cylinders, from watch sizes to clock sizes.

Many different gauges were used and invented by different manufacturers for many purposes before the metric system became more or less universal during the latter part of the 20th century. Some were common or logical, and others were not so, being peculiar to one manufacturer or area.
