    set of six diamond files in box

    six diamond files of varying lengths. Handles are grooved, file ends have differing shapes. Wooden box with inner tray for files. on bottom of box in pencil "1 set of 6 diamond files / H/+set 4"

    Diamond files were used for removing and shaping extremely hard materials, such as jewels or tempered steel. they were made of copper, which being a soft metal could easily be impregnated with a fine diamond or ruby grit to act as a file.
