  • Other Name

    Octopus lure sinker (English)

  • Description

Pōhaku lūhe'e. Octopus lure sinker. Otherwise referred to as a coffee bean sinker in reference to its shape and grooved centre. It is a light reddish tone in colour. Its weight and flat base would suggest its use in compiling a makau he'e leho (Octopus lure). It is made of red stone. Its perforated texture shows it is pōhaku wahine (female stone).
