Iliili. Fan. This is a hand held iliili. It features a long cylindrical length for the handle shaft and a circular and serrated shaped blade. A woven encasement of lau fā (pandanus leaf) in its natural pale yellowcolour and purple dyed colours covers a length of split wood. The blade has been positioned between the split length of wood and a small purple dyed pinnule has been used to secure both components together.

The blade appears to made from lau fou (lace bark), lau fā and kāniu (coconut midribs). A framework of kāniu forms the serrated edge, circle and star shape to which pinnules of lau fā have been used to encase them. The serrated edge has been decorated and covered with purple dyed pinnules of lau fou. The star shape has been decorated with pinnules of red dyed pinnules of lau fou. The centre of the star shows a circle that has been woven from orange dyed pinnules of lau fou also. The space between the star shape and the serrated border has been covered with lengths of the naturally pale yellow pinnules of lau fou. A plaited braid made from dyed lengths of purple and red has been tied into a bow from the central part of the blade where the split end of the wooden handle finishes.
