  • Description

    Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Kete is woven from rauara (pandanus leaf) strips with dyed apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decoration). Rectangular in shape with a patara (serrated) rim. Dyed-red and dyed-black/dark brown apuraka strips are overlaid to form what is known as pupu (stepped) pattern. A single tatai (handle) spans the middle of the kete's opening.
