  • Description

    Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Kete is woven from natural coloured rauara (pandanus leaf) strips with dyed-black apuraka (giant swamp taro) overlaid design. Rectangular in shape. The kete has a patara (serrated rim). Braided double tatai (handle) attached to rim of kete using light-coloured cotton thread. Tatai is broken. Overlaid dyed-black strips form ata (heart) motifs and are placed horizontally across the middle of the kete.

    A border of natural-coloured rauara triangles with their apices facing in the right-hand direction sits below the motifs. A row of ara veri (twilled twos, 'the path of the centipede') sits below and above the motifs.
