  • Description

    Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Kete is woven from natural coloured rauara (pandanus leaf) strips with dyed-red apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decoration). Rectangular in shape. The kete has a patara (serrated rim). Single braided tatai (handle). Tatai is broken. Dyed-red apuraka overlaid strips form surface pattern consisting of rau nikau (coconut leaf) motifs placed in-between single lines of check.

    Vertical rows of katikativai (two vertical lines of viti/check that touch) border the sides of the rau nikau motifs. Horizontal rows of punarua motif (natural coloured squares standing on one corner) are placed above and below the rau nikau motifs.
