    Skirt, lace bark (English)

  • Description

    Titi fou. Skirt of lace bark. This is a waist garment made from lau fou (lace bark). The hip section features fakafiti (twill weave) that is bordered with a separate piece of lau fou. This piece has been repeatedly folded and tacked down. In the same fibre material, eleven tussled fakamanaia (embellishments) have been tacked across the hip section. The remaining selvedge has been left loose to form the bottom half of the titi (skirt).

    There is some pink and purple staining featured across the hip section, the remainder of the titi is undyed and pale yellow in colour.
