pair of pillow ends

human history
  • Description

Pair of silver pillow ends for a bolster textile cushion. Thin, flat rectangular silver sheets, the majority in repousse work. A circular center section features a pair of figures with fan, within a rectangular border containing two stylized Qilin like creatures under trees. An outer border contains two fish, two lobsters, birds, flowers and a moth in each corner. Perforations along the perimeter allow for the plaque to be sewn to the textile of the bolster.

Between each section, banded borders feature repeating fish motifs chased into the silver.
