The papa titi (strapless bandeau) and its ties are made with tapa cloth onto which similar decorative elements are attached (brown and yellow pūpū, orange and green fringed rosettes of purau). The hei tāne (headdress) incorporates all of the decorative elements previously mentioned, constructed as a round headband covered in the natural tapa cloth with a 'bridge' feature across the diameter of the headband adding extra height overall which is decorated with fringed purau of alternating red and orange colours. Two hanging tassels of seeds and orange purau are attached at each side of it.
