  • Description

    Nooanga. Seat. Domestic furniture. Used amongst people of status. Carved from a single piece of wood, possibly tamanu (mahogany). Convex in shape from side to side. The seat has four legs that are slightly curved outwards. Each leg terminates with wider vaevae pukuatu (heart-shaped feet). The pointed ends of the feet face inwards. Puru akari (sennit) woven out in iri taki toru (3-ply braid) is woven around and across a side pair of legs. Mid to dark golden brown in colour.
