    Fishing lure (English)

    Te pa. Pearl shell trolling lure. The main shank of this pa is made from tifa (light coloured pearl shell) cut to include part of the hinge. The maga (hook point) is also made from tifa. The components are lashed securely together with uka tuaine (twine). A pa is used for trolling for pelagic fish such as bonito.
