    Belt (English)

  • Description

    Titi. Waistband made of rauara (pandanus). Double-layered lower and upper patara edges (serrated edges). Overlaid dyed red and dyed black strips of apuraka form zigzag surface patterns across the centre width of the waistband. Two rows of ara veri (twilled twos) border the lower and upper edges of the waistband. Two tufts of kiriau (hibicus fibres) are sewn onto both ends of the waistband using black cotton thread.
