  • Description

    Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Woven from rauara (pandanus leaf) with overlaid dyed-red and dyed-black apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decoration). Medium size, flat rectangular shape. Commencement at base with an iri (braid) inside. Finished at rim in patara (serrated) decorative edge. Two tatai (handles) attached to rim on each side.

    Overall natural colour with dyed-black apuraka (giant swamp taro) decorative elements overlaid in two horizontal bands spanning the length of the kete. Main motif is vahanga marama (stepped pattern) created from the effects of the natural dextrals contrasted against the black coloured sinistrals.
