    shell case, large brass cylinder; thin ribbing on exterior with three large bands of [iron], two near base, one nearer nose; pattern on bands comprised of protruding "H" shape with regular spacing; appears to secure projectile in place before firing; interior lip of cylinder is threaded; underside of base is engraved with "83 H< 16 [6/8] / W (in circle)"; the "16 [6/8]" potentially refers to the height of the cylinder with cone on top, in inches.
