  • Description

    Iri Buli. Fan. Woven in the style distinctive to the women of Daku village, Tailevu province. Woven from voivoi (pandanus) of natural colour incorporated with somo (black dyed pandanus strips) to decorative effect, and magimagi (coconut sennit) braided in tali tolu (3 ply braiding technique) tightly wrapped around the handle. Blade’s commencement at centre base, woven out in vertical twill. Blade is heart-shaped with identical pattern on both sides.

    Somo woven through from the commencement at centre towards widest points of the blade and along the top edge. Some ends of somo strands showing through towards the top of the blade. Magimagi wrapped around the handle has a free loop for hanging the fan for storage.
