745 Pte Walter Rutherford, 43rd Regiment, NZ Wars
London-born Walter Rutherford, a grocer by trade, enlisted initially as a Private (service no 745) with the 43rd Regiment. He arrived in New Zealand aboard the Light Brigade and served with the Regiment from 1863 to 1866. He subsequently enlisted with the New Zealand Armed Constabulary (1867-1869).
