    Pieter Arnoldus Warnaar (1928-1998)

    Born in the Netherlands in 1928, Pieter Arnoldus Warnaar trained as a motor mechanic. In 1946 he enlisted to serve as a chauffeur with the 70 & 7E Coy, Aan-En Afvertroppen. He served in Indonesia and was demobilised in 1950. Shortly afterwards he migrated to New Zealand and set up a car sales yard and mechanical workshop in Invercargill. He married Fran Thompson in 1954 and the couple had two daughters. Pieter retired in 1966-67. He was a member of the RSA, the Dutch Club and was a keen gardener and avid sports fan. He died in Invercargill in 1998.
