  • Description

    Bizen clay vase with, rice straw ash flashing producing red colour. Small bulbous vase with narrow neck and flaring lip.

    The flashing effect is produced by rice straw wrapped around the neck of the vessel for the firing process.

    Suehiro, as well as Satoshi Watanabe are traditional potters from the Bizen area. They make with local clay and fire in large anagama kilns, which are built into the hillside. These kilns can be fired for up to twenty-five days and take the same time to cool.
