Stoneware, black and pigmented slips, glaze, porcelain inlay.

Hayashi produces complex, multi-layered three dimensional semblances on the surfaces of what are often more simple forms. Using illusionistic surface patterning he suggests space and depth.

Masking and spraying of glaze over black slips, and inlay of different coloured clays into fine grooves cut while still soft are some of the techniques used.
