    Porcelain, polychrome glazes.

Karl and Ursula Sheid are two of Germany’s most respected senior ceramists who have worked, taught and exhibited abroad, regularly since the 1960s. They are regarded as ceramic ambassadors who, immediately post World War II, went to England and made contact with potters there as an act of reconciliation. They worked with Harry Davis in Cornwall and exhibited at Henry Rothschild’s Primavera in London, at that time one of the most highly-regarded galleries in England.

The Sheids stay beyond fashion and true to their roots while admiring styles of ceramics from many parts of the world including the Far East from where they have sourced some of the glaze styles seen here.

They are foundation members of Gruppe 83, a group of German artists which exhibits together in many parts of the world. The Sheids have designed for Rosenthal Studio Line and Hutschenreuther – manufacturers of porcelain tableware.
