    single barrel shotgun; barrel hexagonal at base; reinforced under; broken at lock; remains of ramrod broken off in housing; two ramrod tunnels missing; two tacks added under halfstock forend; non-standard copper wire attached to closed cup hook on left hand side; butt broken off, hammer missing; early period attempt at repair to left hand side of wrist of butt; chequered wrist; non-standard bracket has been attached to front of wrist, presumably to hold barrel tang in place; unmarked oval escutcheon at top of wrist
