    three fragments of wood said to be from the flagstaff in Bay of Islands cut down by Hone Heke in 1845; original label attached with wire: "Chip from the historic flagstaff at Bay of Islands which was cut down by Hone Heke in 1845. The incident led up to the first Maori War."
