    ta'ovala manafau (Tongan)

  • Description

    Manafau. Dancing skirt. This manafau is made from natural colour fau (hibiscus) strips. The waistband is very thick and is woven similar to a mat weave and has extra embellishments over the top which have also been made from fau fibres. -(circle as well as folded tassel). CKH notes for the names. At the bottom edge of the manafau, the strands are left to hang loose.
