    "Walrus tusk. Decorated with scrimshaw. Shows leaves circular designs, three masted barquentine. "

    "Probably of old procured from Eskimos[sic] and carved by sailor. The tusk is a fine one, with hole drilled through the point. Many designs are carved on it, including leaves, circular designs, flags and three masted sailing ship in full sail. Secured from among many old curios in a Sydney shop" [ethnology register & card]
