    Hot wax was applied with a pen-like tool

    to draw the fine detailed pattern on this

    Indonesian batik fabric before dyeing. The

    crackled effect comes from dye running into

    small cracks in the wax. The brown dye is

    from soga tree bark and the blue is indigo.
