Tānoa. Kava bowl. tānoa are used in important ceremonies and meetings to mix 'ava (kava) and distribute and share the beverage from. Made from wood, this tānoa is circular in shape, smooth, polished, and glossy. It is very evenly and perfectly cut and has 18 legs cylindrical in shape and squared off at the top where it connects to the bowl. This tānoa is one of four gifts that Auckland received from Tupua Tamasese Tupuola Efi.
