    amulet/charm carving of crouched figure on a platform holding round ball to mouth. large head, protruding jaw, straight nose, inlaid glass eyes painted from underneath (one missing). neckband and cuffs have sparse furry hair. anus marked, genitals not. hole in chest. base broken. note accompanying object reads: " African God brought from St Helena by Rev. Gideon Smales about 1840"
