  • Description

    i Wau Bowai. Club. Carved from a single piece of kau (wood), long and straight in shape with a circular cross-section, and a rounded tip at the striking end. Lawa ni wau (woven decoration), consisting of braids made of magimagi (coconut sennit) and woven out in tali tolu (3-ply), are wrapped around the end of the liga ni wau (the handle).

    The complete surface of the i Wau Bowai is decorated with tavatava (shallow incisions) consisting of multiple rows of zigzags that are sectioned off with horizontal rows of zigzags. There is a carved human figure at the butt end of the i Wau Bowai. Deep red brown in colour.
