NZ Legion of Frontiersmen Membership badge or 'buttonhole badge'

Membership badge of Arthur Cecil Douglas Flintoff Mickle, NZ Legion of Frontiersmen, membership number 18716

Cecil Mickle joined the Legion in the 1920s (approximate date suggested by his membership number 18716). He was present at the funeral of Lieut. Sillitoe in 1930, and in 1955 was awarded the Legion’s Long Service Medal in 1955. This medal was awarded for 15 years’ service. Possible that the discrepancy between the date he joined the Legion and the date he received the award was because the medal was not introduced until 1944.

NOTES: ""This emblem of membership, proof of fidelity, of good comradeship, a passport to the best that one comrade can afford another is, indeed, a token very highly prized among Frontiersmen...the badge formed the centre of a ring worn by General Gordon, who ""Being dead yet speaketh"" [from: http://frontiersmen.homestead.com/badge.html accessed November 2012]
