  • Description

    a large tanged adze, of dark metasomatised argillite, with a quadrangular cross-section. wide at the blade narrowing to the butt. the bevel is long, the chin not well defined. the butt is tanged but without a defined shoulder. made by skillfully controlled flaking with areas of fine hammerdressing. the blade is finely ground with the front blackened from contact with burnt material. areas of haft polish. complete
