  • Description

    Basikete. Clutch for carrying personal items. Contemporary design. Woven from natural coloured strips of voivoi (pandanus), somo (dyed-black voivoi), paomo (dyed-brown voivoi), and is rectangular in shape. Rim along edges with strips of voivoi wrapped around a firm base. The strips of somo, paomo and natural coloured voivoi are woven to form abstract patterns across both sides of the basikete. Two buttons, made of voivoi, are sewn into each far side of the front flap.

    The basikete is lined with a deep crimson coloured cloth, and is with four compartments formed from strips of voivoi woven out in check. There is an inner coin purse woven from voivoi strips with a red zip, sewn into the centre inside the basikete.
