    .577 inch calibre; 2 bands; 21 1/2 inch barrel; brass fittings

    missing parts: hammer retaining screw, ramrod, 2 screws from trigger guard

    markings:

    rack number on butt plate: WTFA / 207

    on lock plate: 1862 / TOWER and VR with crown

    on underside of breech block: 11JE and proof mark: [crown] / E / 3 (Number 3 inspector at Enfield)

    maker: Tower, London, 1860s.

    converted from a muzzle loader to breech loader

    note also described as British Artillery carbine
