    French style trade pistol; large flintlock; .660 inch calibre; very long smoothbore brass barrel; with wooden ramrod; brass fittings; possibly made from military parts; engraved trigger guard; silver oval escutcheon on top of butt: picture of [griffin] over initials: HJO; woodwork partially cleaned/scrubbed, patina has come away

    markings:

    on right hand lock: ‘Lacy’ [name of shop in London]

    Birmingham proof & view marks on left rear of barrel

    top rear of barrel: LONDON

    under barrel, obscured by stock: [crown] / IF

    manufacturer Lacy & Co, London, 1776-1840
