  • Description

    Flintlock punt or swivel gun, possibly late 18th century

    flintlock, barrel 8 ft in length; bore 1-1/4 inches; safety catch at back of hammer; two possibly British proof marks on left rear of barrel, appears to be crossed lances over crown over [illegible]; flint still in lock; safety catch is a hook lever; textile repair to underside of wrist of butt; one barrel band; lock at fault; crack to forend, forward of lock plate, barrel slightly bent

    missing: possibly butt plate; large chip of wood missing to right rear of barrel between lock plate and barrel strap; insect damage and part of heel of butt missing
