Dictionary of Guns & Gunmakers, p518, p469: "Tipping & Lawden: “Caleb & Thomas Tipping-Lawden registered their partnership in Birmingham in 1837, trading from 40 (later 40 & 41) Constitution Hill until moving to 18 Buckingham street in 1860 - also repr. At several other London addresses. Tipping & Lawden was finally bought by P Webley & Son in 1877. Tipping & Lawden produced the multi-barrel derringer pistols patented by Christian Sharps, apparently licensed by Sharps executors. British made guns of this type are often surprisingly well decorated and will be found in a variety of finishes. Work on them is believed to have stopped c1881.”
