Converted to Snider from original Enfield Pattern 1853 muzzle loading rifle. War Department stamped; New Zealand issue service number stamped on butt plate tang.
This weapon was issued to the 50th Regiment in New Zealand. Sniders were also used in New Zealand by the Armed Constabulary and other Volunteer units.
