    A collector's plate from 1993, commemorating the 1953 ascent of Mt Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary. Part of an edition of 1953 plates, each personally signed on the front of the plate by Sir Edmund Hillary. The plate features a montage of images related to the ascent, and the life of Hillary, including an illustration of him in 1953 and an illustration of him in 1993, creating a profound sense of the passing of time.

    Plate is accompanied by a letter from John Raine Ltd and an advertising flyer.
