  • Description

Figurine portion. Mould made. Recessed in a frame. 'Tlaloc'. Segmented, helmet shaped headdress with chin straps and elements projecting from the top back and sides of the head, possibly ears and feathers. The headdress crown shows a grid of rectangular segments (seven vertical divisions) while the base is formed by a band across the forehead of smaller vertical segments with a prominent raised button or dome at the centre.

Three levels of chin strap frame the face (segmented strips, each with a raised segment or button in a vertical row beneath the chin). Wearing eye rings over lidded and rimmed eyes. Nose end abraded, full-lipped mouth open, slightly abraded. A segmented collar style neck ornament (five vertical rows) with a plain band at the base protrudes from beneath the lowest chin strap. A tier of feathers issues from the plain band, the remnant of a second tier surviving below. Back concave with the stump of a broken support at the bottom. Faint traces of white pigment on the front and back, red pigment on the front.
