  • Description

Seated figurine with a back stand. 'Tlaloc'. Headdress corrugated. A vertically lined, ridged rim across the forehead curves down the temples and out over the ears. Four vertical evenly spaced ridges span the crown, with two horizontal ridges at the sides and two ridged chin straps framing the face. A tier of short feathers is arched over the crown with the remains of an out-curving patterned back piece on one side. The top and opposite side are broken off.

An obliquely hanging element survives at the base of the feather tier but is missing from the other side. Without visible earspools. Wearing eye rings over lidded and rimmed eyes. Nose and open mouth obscured by abrasion. Around the neck is a a set of five patterned elements joined to form a crenate or notched edge indicating a necklace or garment neckline. At each side a panel with a raised chevron pattern and decorated end falls from the shoulder. The body of the garment is plain with the raised chevron pattern and border decoration repeated around the hem. On the back, the stump of the backstand and outcurved garment base are evident. The white undercoat pigment is visible on the front and back, the red top coat of pigment prominent on the front.
