YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR FROM A GAS ATTACK, (a) If your Respirator or Helmet is in good order, (b) If you remain calm, and carry out the measures in which you have been instructed.

    "Remember that Your Box Respirator and your P.H. Helmet are of importance second only to your weapons. Keep them in perfect condition. Your Life May Depend On Them.

    Gilbert Archey enlisted with the 22nd Reinforcements, New Zealand Field Artillery, in 1916, leaving New Zealand aboard the Aparima on 16 February 1917. During the war he was promoted as captain, and became divisional education officer in 1918. In 1919 Archey received an OBE (Mil.). “In recognition of valuable services rendered in connection with the war.”
