    Japanese gas mask in satchel, WW2

    .1 base of canister has a threaded aperture; two rubber stoppers attached to canister with string

    .2 mask: grey cotton covered rubber face mask with elasticised cotton tapes for securing to head; rubber hose of similar composition attaches mask to grey-painted metal canister

    .3 satchel: oblong grey green cover fastened from top on side by cotton tape; rear has cotton tape and webbing; inside is a buttoned pocket which contains a booklet, a bandage, and a green metal tube with cork stopper; base has air vent

    markings:

    .1 canister base stamped in black ink 17.5 and Japanese characters (in relief) on top

    .2 mask: stamped in black ink under chin: "[Japanese character] / 175" and "[anchor] / 46"

    .3: Japanese characters handwritten in black ink on white cotton, sewn to satchel; number stamped in black ink at front of satchel: 9266
