    German train curtains

    taken from German railway train handed over to Allies under 1918 armistice at Mons, WW1

    Cloth has woven eagle emblems and initials K.P.E.V. : Königlich Preußische Eisenbahn-Verwaltung [Royal Prussian Railways Administration]

    The donor, Rifleman Thomas Anglim, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, was a railway employee prior to his enlistment. He left New Zealand with the 6th Reinforcements on 29th July 1916. The following year he was hospitalised in England having been wounded in action. Following his return to his unit he was posted for a period to the Railway Light Construction Party.
